High-Barrier Food Containers

Amcor has partnered with Metsä Group to develop next-generation fiber-based food packaging that blends sustainability with high-performance preservation. By combining Amcor’s advanced barrier film technology with Metsä’s wood-based Muoto molded fiber, the collaboration aims to deliver 3D packaging solutions that are both functional and eco-friendly.

The packaging is designed for recyclability in European paper streams and has earned over 80% recyclability recognition from the Confederation of European Paper Industries. Made with biodegradable materials, the solutions suit a range of uses from takeout to industrial applications. Initial products are expected to launch in Europe later this year, with compostable versions in development.

This innovation follows Amcor's recent launch of the Liquiflex AmPrima flexible pouches for food service applications.
